EUR/JPY Price Forecast: 182.00 Level Breakdown and Key Levels (2026)

EUR/JPY Price Forecast: A Bearish Outlook Persists

The EUR/JPY currency pair has been on a downward trajectory, shedding two days of gains and trading around 182.10 during the Asian hours on Thursday. This decline is a result of the pair's inability to break free from the bearish trend, as it remains below both the nine-day and 50-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs).

The technical indicators paint a clear picture of the near-term bias. The 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovering around 37 confirms that the downside momentum is persistent but not extreme, suggesting a potential retest of the initial support at the eight-month low of 179.37, achieved on August 3. Further support levels are set at the nine-month low of 175.70.

On the other hand, the EUR/JPY pair could face resistance at the nine-day EMA at 183.16 and the 50-day EMA at 184.71. A breakthrough above these moving averages would signal a bullish emergence, potentially pushing the pair towards the all-time high of 187.95, last recorded on April 17.

Eurozone Resilience and ECB Tightening

The recent economic data from the Eurozone has been a source of optimism, with the latest PMIs surprising to the upside and dispelling immediate stagflation fears. However, this resilience has sparked debates about the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy. Strategists at BNY Mellon argue that while the Eurozone's growth defies gloom, it is not a clean invitation for the ECB to tighten again.

They caution that another interest rate hike could potentially turn the nascent recovery into a policy-induced slowdown. This perspective highlights the delicate balance the ECB must navigate, as it aims to support economic growth without triggering a downturn.

Euro's Weakness Against Major Currencies

The Euro's weakness against major currencies is evident in the percentage change table. The Euro was the weakest against the US Dollar, with a 0.05% change. This indicates that the US Dollar has outperformed the Euro in terms of value appreciation against other major currencies.

The heat map further illustrates the currency movements, showing the percentage changes of major currencies against each other. For instance, the Euro's performance against the US Dollar can be visualized by selecting the Euro from the left column and moving along the horizontal line to the US Dollar, revealing the percentage change in the box.

In summary, the EUR/JPY pair's bearish outlook persists, with potential support and resistance levels in focus. The Eurozone's resilience and the ECB's monetary policy decisions will play crucial roles in shaping the currency's future trajectory.
